Wow, what a day!

Today was one of the days I got a confirmation that everything in our lives happens for a reason.

I started the day being kind of grumpy and frustrated about my first day as a waitress. But I managed to stir myself out of this mood by humming the song I invented while in the shower:

Dontcha worry, giiiiirl
It’s only temporaaaryyyy
You’re still gorgeous, giiiirl
it’s only temporaryyyyyy

That improved my mood a lot, ’cause I giggled at my horrible voice and overall silliness. Then Bea, the best flatmate, by the way, sang along with me as I stepped out of the shower and we laughed at each other. When we were able to catch our breath, we told each other „I love you“. She is awesome.

Also, today was the first day I felt like spring is finally here. I love this time of the year because all the beautiful warm days are ahead of us. This is the best view of the year. Everybody goes „Awwwww“

The restaurant turned out to be an Italian restaurant, where everyone who works there is from India, except for waitresses, of course. It has to look Italian. Funny.

By the end of my shift, there was a table with two couples (speaking in an American accent, probably tourists). They were in a good mood, so they liked my reference to pen and notepad as „my gear“, which wouldn’t work. They loved the food and I also managed to sell them a bottle of the most expensive wine (TIPS!).

Before the Americans asked for the bill, the boss told me that he is letting me off earlier and I got paid (6 pounds per hour + 10-pound tip… I got robbed). On my way out, I decided to wish the best American table of the day a wonderful evening and a nice stay in London. They thanked me and told me that I was „Amaaaazing“, also they asked me how they should handle the tip since they are paying by credit card. To which I said I didn’t know, as I am not handling money just yet, as it was my first day.

I looked a bit frustrated when I said that. Because:
Then the most talkative lady from the table caught me outside and told me she was surprised that I was so genuinely nice knowing I wouldn’t get their tip. She gave me 50 quid (Oh My Goaaad!) and told me that she thinks I should get their tip, cause I earned it. Then she told me that if I am looking for a better job, she can help, cause she is a recruiter and knows a lot of companies in London. She gave me her business card.

I will write you tomorrow, Samantha. YAY! „It’s only temporaryyyyyy, GIRL!“

A day with a bad forecast turned out to be a great day!

Another day was saved, thanks to Ms. Positive Thinking
