Wow, what a day!

The day started with a lot of sunshine and I could see the pollen floating in the air in rays of the sun ^_^

We decided it’s a shame to spend such a beautiful day inside, so we took our little Inga to the park. We tried to teach her how to ride her bike without the little side wheels. When she started to make some progress, it started to rain 🙁 *bummer!* So we rushed to the car and back home.

On our way home little Inga asked her mother “Mommy, how does it rain?” and Amy just dropped “God makes it”. That’s it! That made me angry.

When we got home, I took Inga to the kitchen and put some water to boil in a glass pot that we have. “Daddy, why are you boiling water?” she asked. “Come look, when the water boils, it turns into steam. Watch what happens when steam goes to the lid”. Soon, there were tiny droplets on the bottom of the lid and I turned the heat off.

“Is that rain?!” she asked surprised.

“Exactly” I said. “The water boils and turns into steam, then, it turns back into the water on the lid. Now it’s dripping, like rain. Outside, the rain from the rivers, lakes, and oceans boils and comes down as rain”

“But the sky doesn’t have a lid, what does the water stick to in the sky?” she asked

“It sticks to the clouds”

“Why do the rivers boil?”

“The sun heats the surface of the rivers and turns it into steam, but slower”

“Oh, so that’s why puddles disappear?”

“Yes”

“I get it now, thank you, daddy” and she hugged me.

She is such a smart girl and it just pisses me off that Amy is trying to explain everything with “God did it”. I don’t want my little Inga to be ignorant. She needs to learn.
