Wow, what a day!
I and Erica decided to assemble the last pieces of furniture today. Today was the limit of our procrastination. We just looked at each other and said NO MORE!
So I went to the basement and brought the screwdrivers and everything. We quickly put together two coffee tables and saved the dresser for last.
So we assembled the base and moved to the walls of the dresser and the drawers. When we tried to fit the drawers, I noticed that those plastic fixtures that hold the rails that make the drawers slide, got broken when we were moving. And I thought this would be easy. :-/
So we spent 3 hours trying to find an alternative and finally, we decided to fix the rails with the screws we had in the house. Erica held the rails and I was using my favorite electric screwdriver. LET THE SCREWING BEGIN (it sounds wrong, doesn’t it?)
As a result we damaged the veneer in two places because the screws went through, BUT, the drawer was working! At least I have space for my socks and undies.
We decided to treat ourselves with a beer with a feeling of a “job well-done”. As soon as we opened the beers and stretched our legs on the porch, we heard something heavy falling in the bedroom.
When we got there, our dresser was basically in the same state we brought it from the basement earlier. We agreed to give up trying and use the wood for something else.
But seriously, we suck at furniture.
